I was inspired to become a teacher because…

I was a very sporty child and had a real passion for Athletics and Netball at School.  At the age of 18 I was involved in a Council initiative to provide sporting opportunities for children in disadvantaged areas.  I absolutely loved working with the children and immediately volunteered at a local Primary School.  The teachers were full of enthusiasm and the children truly inspired.  At this point I knew I wanted to be a teacher and help make a difference.

My best piece of advice (to date!)

This advice was given to me by a 59 year old teacher on my first teaching placement 16 years ago and is always at the forefront of my mind.

“The children may not remember what you teach them, but they will remember how you teach them.”

My favourite teacher

Mr Rousell.  He was a happy and inspirational teacher.  He made me smile and laugh on a daily basis, except this one time when he told me off for eating his chocolate cookie!
